Dear BRV Families, Community Members, and Prospective Students,
If we had to reduce the 2021-22 school year down to just three words, they would be teamwork, resilience, and initiative. Blue River Valley Schools earned regional and state FFA honors including two individual state championships (Jordan Flynn and Stella Freuchtel-Dearing), captured two basketball sectional titles (boys and girls), had one of our female student-athletes named to the Indiana All-Star basketball team (Ally Madden), won awards for our choir program, and our Business Professionals of America chapter earned national awards of achievement in Dallas, TX for Marketing and Public Relations, Environmental Action and Awareness, and Community Service with Blue River Valley students Leah Foster and Jasmeen Kaur receiving the national Ambassador Torch Award. As the new Blue River Valley superintendent, I can proudly say it was a momentous year to be a Viking!
With that said, we cannot rest on our accomplishments. We must be vigilant in planning for future successes. Excitement is building for the 2022-23 school year at Blue River Valley with several powerful initiatives materializing and new staff members coming on board to accentuate our current dynamic staff. Teamwork stands front and center in our district as committees continue working on district-wide strategic planning, long-term facility improvement projects, the Learning to Think leadership initiative, K-12 curriculum development, the Digital Learning Cadre project, the addition of a second ag. teacher to grow our agriculture program K-12, athletic department enhancements and collaborative professional development, and district branding efforts. Blue River Valley administrators, teachers, staff, and school board members are working in lockstep toward offering a top-notch educational experience as well as providing opportunities for success for our students at all grade levels.
As renowned leadership expert, Simon Sinek, notes in his book Together is Better, “The value of our lives is not determined by what we do for ourselves. The value of our lives is determined by what we do for others.” We will not just succeed at Blue River Valley… we will succeed together.
Make it a great day!
Sincerely,
Trent McCormick
