Our 3rd grade Vikings had a very busy week last week! During Target, the third graders practiced their perimeter skills. In Science, students learned how clouds are made. They added hot water to bags, and watched the water vapor collect on the sides of the bags. BRV graduate Chase Houser also visited our 3rd graders to discuss what it is like being a firefighter. He talked about fire safety since October is fire safety month. #VikingVictories

Unfortunately, our Jr. Vikings volleyball games will not be able to continue tonight due to a loss of power at the school. If possible, we will look at rescheduling for one night next week. Be safe this evening.

Our last day in Washington DC did not disappoint! We started our day visiting Ford's Theatre. Next, we fit in a quick trip to the Library of Congress before a tour of the US Capitol. We had some time to visit the Smithsonian museums, then a stop at the White House. Our day ended with a night time tour of the Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, and ended our trip at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. What a memorial experience for our students and their families!

Washington DC day 2 was jam packed! Our day started at Arlington Cemetery where 4 of our students had the honor of presenting a wreath on behalf of BRV Elementary during the Changing of the Guard ceremony. Next was a quick trip to the Marine Corps War Memorial, followed by the National Archives, National Museum of the American Indian, and George Washington's home Mount Vernon. We ended the day with a night time tour of the Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. So much more to see tomorrow!

📚📖This week, we started WIN (What I Need) in all classrooms. WIN is a time that teachers meet each student at their level for reading instruction. Mrs. Sharrett's first grade friends used light up pop tubes to segment new words! #VikingVictories

Kindergarten is learning all about GERMS🦠 in Science. They learned about Gary the Germ, and how germs live on our hands. They looked at their hands using the black light to see all of the icky germs. They sang the ABCs to wash their hands, and came back to look at their hands under the black light to see how well they cleaned. Needless to say they learned to keep the bad germs off with SOAP AND WATER! #VikingVictories
