Blue River Valley Elementary conducted their annual Spelling Bee this morning. The Spelling Bee went 15 rounds, and the winning word was "democracy". Runner-up was 4th grader Sammy Coffin, and Spelling Bee Champion was 6th grader Lukas Satterfield. Lukas now moves on to the Regional Spelling Bee at Ball State University March 7 at 10:00 am. Fantastic job to all of our Super Spellers!

It's a 3 game night in Shelton Gym! The night starts at 5:00 with the 6th grade game, immediately followed by the 5th grade team. The Varsity Girl's game will round out the night starting approximately at 7:00. Get out and cheer on your Lady Vikings! 🏀⛹️‍♀️

Blue River Valley Schools will be on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, January 20th, due to expected cold temperatures and dangerous wind chill. Staff and students still can have a Pajama Day or wear their IU gear tomorrow!

Reminder: Blue River Valley Schools is not in session tomorrow, January 19, 2026. Mrs. Dickerson, who is a proud IU alumni, will be closely monitoring the weather this week. As of now BRV will start school on time Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Staff and students can enjoy a Pajama Day or celebrate their Hoosier pride with IU gear on Tuesday.

🕵️‍♂️🔍 Our fifth graders became detectives!

They listened to a real-life detective talk about crime scenes, solved a social studies–themed “murder,” cracked a reading mystery involving missing jellybeans, created wanted posters for book characters, and even figured out which classmate “stole” a classroom item.

It was a full day of thinking, problem-solving, and putting reading and inferencing skills to the test. Thank you Det. Jarvis for taking the time to talk to us! What an exciting way to learn! 📚✨

The timing of tonight’s winter weather is difficult to predict. Elementary boys’ basketball practice and the junior high girls’ basketball game versus Union City have been canceled.

At this time, the varsity girls’ basketball game and the bowling meet will continue as scheduled.
